Gary Kidgell

I first met D.B. in September 1991 when I visited London for the purpose of him performing my ‘Ray Analysis’. My initial impression was of a man who possessed a profound talent in relation to his work. It was immediately apparent to me that, unlike the vast majority of his contemporaries, his teachings on the esoteric were not of a purely theoretical nature but rather based upon direct experience.

As someone whose life had been previously transformed by an awakening to the fact of there being inestimably more to life than the external affairs of a transient world, the experience of meeting D.B, allied to the deep levels of personal insight which he had provide me with, exerted an extremely powerful effect upon my life. I proceeded to study for and successfully complete the Bachelor of Metaphysics Degree offered by Claregate College in 1993. The following year I was invited to undertake the role of a Course Tutor.

Thereafter, in tandem with my tutoring duties, I would regularly visit D.B’s ashram in Hertfordshire for the purpose of both assisting in his work and establishing closer connections with other members of the Claregate Group. It was during this period that I developed my techniques of esoteric study, writing and lecturing which I owe almost entirely to D.B. This may be attributed to his ability to convey abstract esoteric truths in an accessible and contemporary format.

Having previously practiced traditional astrology, my meeting with D.B., and my subsequent studies through Claregate College, led me to embrace his specific form of Esoteric Astrology which draws upon the pioneering work of Carl Jung who outlined the concept of archetypes or ‘divine ideas’ and of how these are registered in the human psyche as symbols. By relating the archetypal energy contained in astrological symbols to images received in dreams and meditations, D.B.’s Esoteric Astrology offers one a comprehensive ‘language of symbols’ by means of which they may communicate with the Higher Self thereby obtaining guidance and direction towards expressing the Soul’s Purpose.

In 2010 my friend and co-worker Alan Boxall developed the idea of updating the existing Claregate Correspondence Course to a contemporary audio-visual format. As a result I undertook the role of Director of Studies of the new course- Foundations in Esoteric Studies. The course is an aspect of the on-going endeavours of the Claregate Group towards presenting and building upon D.B’s work of which I am both honoured and delighted to be a part of.
